I have just spoken to the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), and they are unsure and seeking further
clarification. Their advice was to speak to my solicitor and seek clarification through that channel.
The lady from REIQ said “They don’t think the Government knows yet, as it has just been announced, and as
usual the detail has not been confirmed regarding dates, signing of contract”
Several things may happen
1. They take it from the date the land contract was signed (Stamp duty will be the old formula)
and/or
2. They take it from the date the build contract was signed
3. They take it from start date of build.
All these are yet to be determined and clients should seek advice and definite clarification from their solicitor.
Obviously we will inform clients if we find formal clarification from the REIQ or the Qld Government in the mean
time.
